5 Green Tea Skin Care Recipes

Summer in Greece brings a lot of sun, and even here, by the sea, where the wind breathes coolness, the skin requires special attention. I always wanted to find something simple, real - and green tea became such a solution for me. It not only refreshes from the inside, but also carefully cares for the skin from the outside.
I am close to everything that can be done with my own hands. It is a small ritual, quiet and slow. I feel better when I prepare something that will touch my skin myself - especially if it is tactile, aromatic, herbal.
Green tea, especially sencha and matcha, has become my summer companion. I use it after long walks, hours in the garden or on island trails. It helps the skin to regenerate, remove traces of the sun, and soothe redness and fatigue. And it gives that feeling of “refreshment” not only to the body but also to the inner state.
Here are five recipes that have become my favorites. May they be close to you, too, as a gesture of care and touch.
Steam bath for face with green tea and mint
Ingredients:
1/8 cup organic sencha green tea
1/4 cup dried organic lemon balm (or double if fresh)
1-2 tbsp dried peppermint (or double if fresh)
Directions: Pour boiling water over the herbs, let stand for 5 minutes. Cover yourself with a towel and breathe in the steam – deeply and calmly, for about 10 minutes.
Cleansing beans with matcha and lavender
Ingredients:
1 tbsp oatmeal
1 tbsp almonds
2 tsp lavender flowers
1 tsp French green clay
1/4 tsp matcha tea
2-5 drops lavender essential oil
Mix in a coffee grinder until powdered, sift, add clay and essential oil. Store in a jar. Use with water, floral water or yogurt - as a soft scrub or mask.
Green Tea Toner for Glowing Skin
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp sencha green tea
1/2 cup witch hazel extract
1/4 cup rose hydrosol
1.5 tsp aloe vera gel
1/4 tsp vegetable glycerin
1-3 drops of geranium or rose oil
Steep the tea in witch hazel for 2 weeks, strain and mix with the remaining ingredients. Store in the refrigerator. Use as a spray.
Green tea compress
Brew tea, cool it, soak a soft cloth in the infusion and apply it to the skin for 5-10 minutes. This is a very simple but effective way to restore softness and freshness to the skin.
Cooling spray for face and body
Ingredients:
3/4 cup distilled water
1 tbsp dried mint leaves
1/2 tsp sencha green tea
1 drop peppermint essential oil (optional)
Brew, cool, strain and pour into a spray bottle. Store in the refrigerator. Ideal in hot weather.
Let these recipes become a part of your summer. Not as a mandatory care, but as a gesture to yourself. As a way to tell your skin: “I see you. I care. I’m here.” And let the aroma of green tea remind you of peace and lightness, like the wind from the sea in July.
