Basket for collecting herbs

"An object that makes the day slower"
Everyone here has a basket. Not for shopping. Not for picnics. But for moving without haste.
Mine is old. Made of reed. With a handle that rustles slightly. I take it not when “I have to”, but when I want to be alone with the rhythm of the earth.
I go with her to the fence for sage. To the tree for laurel. In the garden - for mint, thyme, sometimes just for leaves that “still smell.”
It's impossible to run with a basket. It requires slowness. Your hands are busy, and you suddenly realize that everything else can wait.
When I come home, the basket is filled with air. Smells. Traces of the sun on the leaves.
And the feeling that the day was not wasted, even if nothing “useful” happened.
In it I bring: - herbs for tea - flowers for tinctures - twigs for hydrolat - sometimes just a tangerine found by the road
The basket became part of the ritual:
If you take it, it means you choose to be slower. It means you don't collect, you collect. With thoughts. With body. With silence.
What I recommend putting in your basket in the summer:
thyme tops
young laurel leaves
mint cut in the morning
a little rosemary
dried immortelle flowers
one fruit - for balance
I don't wash it often. It retains the smell. It's not for decoration. It's for life, which doesn't require speed.
Let you have such a basket too. And let it become not a part of the interior, but a part of what makes an ordinary day a day that you will remember.
