Corfu Beaches: 10 Most Beautiful Swimming Spots on the Island.

With a coastline stretching over 200 km, the Ionian island is ideal for a beach holiday. Corfu's stunning beaches and bays, mostly composed of light sand or pebbles, offer activities for every taste.

The island's most beautiful beaches are located on the west coast, while the east coast is dominated by pebble beaches. Some beaches in the north and west stretch for kilometers, so even in high season, everyone can find a quiet spot. However, a certain degree of mobility is required in Corfu.

1.Agios Georgios Beach (north)

A long, picturesque bay with a brown sand beach and clear seawater in the resort town of Agios Georgios (Armenadon) in northwestern Corfu. Numerous restaurants, bars, and supermarkets are located right on the beach. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided, but there are also many unspoiled natural areas.

Thanks to its vastness, the beach is rarely crowded, especially in the off-season. Boat rentals and shuttle services to Porto Timoni Beach are also available.

2. Agios Stefanos Beach (Avliotes)

A kilometer-long golden sandy beach in the resort town of Agios Stefanos (Avliotes). Its length makes this beautiful beach particularly suitable for long walks. At the northern end is a coastal sandbar with very shallow waters. Further inland, nudists will find a pleasant spot here.

Agios Stefanos Beach is ideal for a relaxing swim, even with small children. For a snack or a refreshing drink, the Mango Lounge bar and restaurant at the Delfino Blu Hotel is highly recommended. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere and stunning views of the sea and the Diapontine Islands.

💡 Corfu Hotel Tip: The family-run Delfino Blu Hotel is located directly above Agios Stefanos Beach. Friendly host Kostas, a stylish pool area, and a generous breakfast buffet. Delfino Blu Boutique Hotel & Spa*

Bataria Beach

A stunning swimming bay north of the resort town of Kassiopi. The light-colored pebble beach makes the sea sparkle with the most beautiful shades of blue. Sun loungers are provided, but you can also lay out your towel on the rocks.

Thanks to its abundance of fish, Bataria Bay is a popular snorkeling spot in Corfu. Parking above Bataria Beach is limited. Alternatively, you can park in the charming coastal town of Kassiopi and walk about 15 minutes along the promenade to the bay. Water shoes are recommended for visiting the beach.

4. Erimitis: Corfu's Secret Beach

In the natural paradise of Erimitis in northeastern Corfu, you can enjoy a relaxing day of swimming. Several picturesque coves are located on the wooded cape east of Kassiopi.

On the way to Avlaki Beach, you can park your car and follow the hiking trails to Corfu's idyllic beaches – Vrachli, Tsoufaka, Arias, and Akoli. White pebble and sandy beaches, combined with the turquoise, crystal-clear waters in the coves, create a magnificent backdrop.

5. Gardenos Beach

This kilometer-long beach with fine golden sand is located near the village of Gardenos. The crystal-clear sea gently slopes down to the shore, making Paralia Gardenos popular with families with children. Many locals also flock to Gardenos Beach on weekends.

Umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent at the front of the beach; the rest of the beach is left pristine. For a simple lunch break or snack, we recommend the Meltemi beach bar.

Gardenos Beach is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu. From here, you can even see the small neighboring island of Paxi to the south, where day trips are organized. Information is available from my partner.GetYourGuide*:

6. Halikounas Beach

The dune cape behind Lake Korission offers plenty of space for a quiet beach experience. The spacious beach with fine sand remains largely untouched, with the exception of a simple cafeteria and a beach bar with sun loungers and umbrellas. Nudism is permitted in more secluded areas.

Since there are no trees to provide shade, you should bring an umbrella. The atmosphere is especially beautiful in the evening at sunset. There is ample parking along the gravel path behind the beach.

7 Mega Choros Beach

A secluded, long sandy beach in southwest Corfu, devoid of tourist infrastructure. The coastline gently slopes down to the crystal-clear sea.

The dirt road to the beach is only suitable for 4x4 vehicles. All other vehicles can park in the parking lot above Megas Choros Beach and must walk about 20 minutes along a bumpy gravel road.

Due to its difficult accessibility, even in high season, you'll usually have the golden sandy beach to yourself, allowing you to swim without fear of being disturbed. Its secluded location also makes it suitable for nudists.

💡 Nudist beach in Corfu: Not far from the Myrtiotissa Monastery lies a popular nudist beach. Nestled between high cliffs, Myrtiotissa Beach offers a beautiful sandy shore and crystal-clear, shallow water. During high season, a café serving simple snacks and drinks operates here.

8. Notos Beach

A tranquil bay with a pebble beach and crystal-clear waters in southeastern Corfu. The area near the Panorama tavern and its botanical garden is especially beautiful. A true beach oasis awaits you here in Corfu!

The trail leading to the coast passes through banana plantations, palm trees, and exotic plants to a long wooden pier. To the south, there are sunbathing areas. The sea in the shallow bay is crystal clear. The taverna serves simple food and drinks at reasonable prices.

9. Corfu Beaches Near Paleokastritsa

The coastline around Paleokastritsa in northwest Corfu, with its high, pale cliffs, is truly postcard-perfect, and for us personally, one of the most beautiful spots on the island. Thanks to its jagged coastline, it offers numerous beautiful coves and beaches.

Unfortunately, due to the steep cliffs in the northwest, most beaches are inaccessible by car or on foot. The only beaches accessible by car are Rovinia, Liapades, and Agia Triada. However, the latter two are extremely crowded during peak season.

A motorboat excursion from the port of Alipa is the best way to discover the beautiful coves and caves around Paleokastritsa. No license is required for boats up to 30 hp. A detailed briefing is provided before the excursion, and the motorboats are easy to operate thanks to automated systems, suitable even for beginners.

The idyllic bays around Paleokastritsa are almost entirely composed of light-colored pebbles, giving the sea a beautiful turquoise hue. Because numerous freshwater springs are located along this stretch of coastline, the water is icy cold even in the height of summer, requiring a certain amount of courage to jump in.

The beaches of Limni, Iliodoros, Chomi, and Stelari south of Paleokastritsa are particularly worth visiting. Anchoring at Chomi Beach is temporarily prohibited due to the risk of landslides and rockfalls. Kastelli Beach, located below Angelokastro, west of the town, was one of our favorites and is definitely worth a boat trip.Sea trip Along the coast of Paleokastritsa is a must-do activity on the island of Corfu!

10 Porto Timoni: Butterfly Bay in Corfu

North of Agios Georgios lies the idyllic Butterfly Bay (also known as Deuce Bay) in Corfu. Crystal clear waters, a light sandy-pebble beach, and green hills complete this picturesque setting. The beach is accessible only by foot or boat. Parking is limited in the center of Afionas; it is recommended to park at the entrance to the village.

You can park your car in Afionas, above the bay. A small, narrow car can take you to the Porto Timoni restaurant, which is located right at the start of the hiking trail. Parking at Porto Timoni costs €5 per day.

Below Porto Timoni, about a 20-minute walk away, a steep footpath leads down to Porto Timoni beach. Due to the very rugged terrain, we recommend wearing sturdy footwear. Shortly before reaching the beach, you'll pass the Porto Timoni Viewpoint, which offers magnificent views of the bay.

The two opposite beaches are quite narrow and usually very crowded during peak season. We recommend visiting them before 11 a.m. to avoid the crowds.

There are no restrooms or trash cans on site. Please help keep this beautiful place clean. Don't forget to bring plenty of water; you'll especially need it for the tiring climb back to Afionas.

Alternatively, during peak season, you can take a water taxi for the return trip. Boats run regularly between Butterfly Bay and Agios Georgios Beach (approximately 10 euros per person, including transfer to Afionas).
