There are plants that are not collected by hand - by light. I leave a jar of oil on a sunny wall of a house in Corfu. Inside are yellow flowers of St. John's wort. In two weeks the oil becomes amber, like the evening sea. This is my macerate of the sun .

St. John's Wort Macerate Recipe

An easy island way to preserve summer in butter.

Ingredients:

  • St. John's wort flowers (freshly picked, best not washed)

  • Cold pressed oil (almond, olive or jojoba)

  • Glass jar with lid

  • Sun and patience

How to do:

  1. Fill the jar 2/3 full with St. John's wort flowers.

  2. Pour in oil until everything is completely covered.

  3. Close, shake, put in a light, warm place (not in direct sunlight - diffused heat is better).

  4. Shake lightly every day.

  5. After 14-21 days, strain and store in a dark bottle.

How to use:

  • like after sun oil

  • for a soothing massage

  • add to bath in the evening

  • or just rub it into the skin of your hands after writing in a notebook

It's not just a departure - it's a way to be closer to the light.
