Roses of Corfu and my own scent

Updated: Jun 30, 2025

Memory in the smell: of roses and silence.

There are a lot of roses in Corfu. Not like the ones in the bouquet — not bred, not decorative. These smell different: a little smoky, a little tart, with salty grass from the wind. I don’t pick the petals right away. I wait until they almost fall off — then the aroma becomes deeper. One of my favorite fragrances is Very Irrésistible by Givenchy. The first one, the very one — before the flankers, before the new releases. I wasn’t looking for a copy. I just wanted to understand what resonates in me when I smell it. I tried:

  • infuse the petals in oil

  • add some sage

  • a drop of pink pepper⠀It all smelled different , but truly mine.⠀Now I have a small bottle: it smells like a May morning, a stone wall, fabric, dried rose. I can’t name it. But it is my diary in smell.

📌 My recipe for oil aroma:

  • 30 ml jojoba oil (or grape seed)

  • dried rose petals (leave for 5-7 days)

  • 1 drop of clary sage essential oil

  • 1 drop pink pepper essential oil

  • insist, strain, pour into a glass bottle
