Sandy Sea Lily

Sometimes in Corfu a miracle appears not from the horizon, but right under your feet. I didn’t notice it right away – among the sand, dry grass, traces of seagulls. The flower seemed random, like a brushstroke on the edge of a canvas. But I stopped. And sat down.

Sea lily. White as salt, thin as silk. Not garden. Not haughty. But wild - real. It grows right on the sand, without shade, without water nearby. Only the sun. Only the wind. And the grains of sand that blow on it every day. It does not break. It lives. And - blooms.

In Greece it is called "krinos tis amou" - the lily of the sand. It blooms for a short time: the end of summer, when everything is already burnt out, tired, quiet. As if the island breathes in the last white note before autumn. And gives it to you - if you see it.

I didn't pick it. I just sat down next to it. Looked at it. Thanked it. And moved on - a little quieter than before. With the thought that you can blossom even in the hottest sand. And that beauty doesn't require space. Only time.

📌 Observation: The sand lily can be found on the wild beaches of the western coast of Corfu - especially in August. It is vulnerable. There are almost none left. So it is better to just be nearby. And remember.
