The best time to travel to Greece.

My acquaintance with Greece began with Corfu—an emerald island where the sea reflects the sky and ancient olive trees hold the memory of centuries. It was then that I first realized that Greece is not just a country, but a special state of mind: calm, warm, and endlessly inspiring.

Since then, I've returned again and again—to the Cyclades, Athens, Crete, and the Peloponnese—and each time Greece reveals itself in a new way. There's no "wrong" time to travel here—there's only your rhythm and your light.

Spring—a time of awakening

April–June

Spring in Greece means peace before the influx of tourists, a gentle breeze, and the scent of blooming rosemary. If you're looking for the perfect balance between warmth and peace, this is the best time.

In Crete, you can already swim, in Athens, it's pleasant to stroll through Plaka, and in Corfu, the gardens are immersed in bougainvillea.

Recommended:

  • Domes Miramare Corfu, a Luxury Collection Resort —A hotel on the shores of the Ionian Sea where time seems to dissolve.

  • One&Only Aesthesis, Athens is a refined harmony of nature and design, the perfect spring inspiration.

Tip: Avoid Easter week if you're looking for peace and quiet. It's a time of family celebrations, and the country lives to its own unique rhythm.

Summer – a time of light and sea

    July – September

Summer in Greece means endless sunshine, the sound of cicadas, and the scent of sea salt on your skin. On Santorini, every sunset is a work of art, on Mykonos, life pulsates until dawn, and Zakynthos welcomes you with soft beaches and clear waters.

    Places worth spending summer:

  • Cavo Tagoo Mykonos —snow-white luxury and sunsets that are impossible to forget.

Canaves Oia Suites, Santorini — legendary hotel overlooking the caldera.

  • Porto Zante Villas & Spa, Zakynthos — A rare combination of privacy and high aesthetics.

Tip: In summer, it's best to book in advance—especially on the islands. And don't forget sunscreen—the sun is generous here.

Autumn—a time of flavor and light

    October - December

When the heat subsides and the sea remains warm, it's a golden time for those who enjoy leisurely strolls, wine, and culinary discoveries.

In the Peloponnese, it's olive harvest time and the first aromatic oils. In Crete, it's homemade rakia and cozy tavernas where the owners pour drinks like old friends. And Athens in autumn offers the perfect combination of museums, coffee shops, and soft light.

    I recommend staying in:

The Margi, Vouliagmeni — Boutique hotel by the sea, surrounded by pine trees and silence.

  • Kinsterna Hotel, Monemvasia — A restored Byzantine-era estate, steeped in history and the scent of laurel.

Tip: September and October are the time for grapes and new wine. It's a season of taste and contemplation.

Winter is the time for inner Greece.

    January - March

In winter, Greece reveals itself in a different way. Without the bustle, without the crowds. Just you, history, and coffee in small Athenian cafes.

This is the time for cities and discoveries:

NJV Athens Plaza —A classic of Athenian elegance with views of Syntagma.

  • Electra Metropolis Athens — Modern comfort and an ideal location for strolling.

Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas(Epirus) - for those seeking a Greece without the sea, but with soul.

Tip: The winter months are ideal for visiting museums, ancient sites, and cozy restaurants without the wait and bustle.

    My personal advice

Don't choose the time – choose your mood. Greece is always beautiful: fresh in spring, generous in summer, deep in autumn, and truly authentic in winter.

Every trip is a return to yourself. Maybe one day you, too, will find yourself in Corfu and realize that you know and love every olive.
