Cucumber Collagen Face Mask
I just finished rinsing off this mask in the shower, and I love how smooth my skin feels. I’ve been adding collagen to my green smoothies for a few months now, but it only recently occurred to me to use it in a face mask too.
Collagen is said to be incredibly beneficial for skin, hair, and nails. While I can't speak for nails since mine are naturally strong, I can definitely see a difference in my hair — it's fuller and shinier. But the most noticeable change since I started taking collagen has been how radiant and smooth my skin looks.
That’s what led me to today’s skincare ritual: collagen inside and out. I also added cucumber for its amazing hydrating effect and a little gelatin to bring the mixture together and make it easy to apply.
This mask is super easy to make. You just blend everything together — but because blenders need a minimum volume to work well, this recipe makes several face treatments at once. That’s actually a bonus since you can freeze the extras and save time later.
I saved one tablespoon to use right away, then froze the rest in an ice cube tray. A month later, I still had cubes left — perfect for keeping up a skincare routine without daily prep.
To use a frozen cube: just defrost in the fridge for 4+ hours or at room temperature for about an hour. I usually take one out before bed and let it defrost overnight in the fridge to use the next day.
Cucumber Collagen Mask – DIY Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 small English cucumber (about 5 oz / 140 g)
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp gelatin (preferably grass-fed; regular may have a strong scent)
1 tbsp collagen powder
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth, starting on low speed and increasing to medium.
Set aside 1 tbsp for immediate use (within 24 hours).
Pour the rest into an ice cube tray — should yield 12–14 cubes.
Freeze until solid. Store cubes in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 month.
Thaw before use and apply to clean face. Leave on for 15–20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
